Heliotropia is an edition of 14 solar-powered digital prints connected to artificial foliage that rotates via small wall-mounted electric motors.  

When installed in a sunny room the foliage connected to a print receiving direct sunlight will spin. As soon as the print ceases to be exposed to direct light, the foliage stops spinning.   As time passes and light moves across the space, different motors will be activated, spinning certain plants.

The title of the piece refers to the phenomenon of heliotropism, the motion of flowers or leaves in response to the position of the sun in the sky. Over the course of a day heliotropic plants track the sun's motion across the sky. Examples of heliotropic plants include the snow buttercup, the sunflower and the shamrock.
